Yes, U-label by Scantrust allows you to create QR codes that are compliant with both EU labelling regulations and meet the requirements of the future 2D barcode, GS1 Digital Link that turns a QR code into a single connection point for product data by combining EU regulatory information, GTIN (the GS1 product identifier), and other data in a single scannable code.

To remain compliant in countries where mandatory EU labelling information is not compulsory or accepted, you can set your QR code to redirect consumers to the web page of your choice. This feature is included in some of our Enterprise plans.

Please note that when the new “Wine Package” [Regulation (EU) 2026/471] are implemented in September 2027, you will no longer be required by EU legislation, to communicate the list of ingredients and nutritional declaration on wines that are intended for export outside the EU.

While our platform was originally created to design e-labels for wines, aromatised wines and spirits products – each with its own tailor-made template to keep your products compliant – we’ve added a new, generic template for other food and beverage products. You can now generate e-labels for any agri-food product (olive oil, cheese, candy, honey, and more) to provide information digitally in addition to the mandatory information communicated on the physical label.

Yes. U-label by Scantrust allows you to communicate not only the list of ingredients and the nutritional declaration, but also any relevant recycling and sorting information such as that required by Italy and Spain. Relevant local information will be shown, as appropriate, depending on where your QR code is scanned. This feature is available for free by default in all subscription plans.

Yes. The U-label by Scantrust platform allows you to create and effortlessly translate e-labels in any of the 24 EU languages. We also offer translation to Norwegian.

All standardized e-label information (selected from drop down menus and lists in the e-label editor) is translated using our integrated multi-lingual database, based on the EU Commission’s official regulatory translations, to ensure official EU terminology is used throughout all linguistic versions of your e-label.

For non-standardized information (i.e. information that you type in manually in the e-label editor), our platform relies on machine translation to automatically generate your content to the languages of your choice. Automatic translations can be reviewed and adapted as needed, even after your label has been printed.

Absolutely. U-label by Scantrust allows you to personalize the appearance of your e-labels by adding your own logo and color scheme to seamlessly integrate with in the design of your back labels.

Once created and published, your e-labels remain valid and accessible to consumers as long as you have an active U-label by Scantrust subscription.

Once you’ve created your e-label, you can download the associated QR code directly from the platform in SVG, PSF, EPS, JPG, PNG, or TIFF, depending on your printer’s requirements.

Yes, with U-label by Scantrust you can choose between generating only a QR code or a QR code that includes the text required by EU regulations (“Ingredients & Nutrition”, energy value, etc.) and/or GS1 standards (GTIN, etc.).

Unfortunately marketing information cannot be displayed within the same QR code that’s used for mandatory information. Generally speaking, if you’d like to show marketing information digitally, you need to create a separate QR code and print both on your physical label, clearly indicating which one contains the regulatory information.

However, if you don’t want two QR codes, it’s possible to add (within the regulatory QR) an intermediate link informing your consumers they are leaving the regulatory page and being directed to a marketing page.
